DRUSKI

Drew “Druski” Desbordes born September 12, 1994 was born in Columbia Maryland and raised in Gwinnett County, Georgia. 

 

While I may not agree with everything Druski does, I believe he is undeniably talented and fearless in his approach to comedy. He has a unique ability to push boundaries, make people laugh, and at the same time expose deeper truths and uncomfortable realities through humor. Some of his skits are so close to real-life experiences that they spark intense reactions and conversations. The Erica Kirk situation is one example of how his comedy can touch on subjects that resonate deeply with people.

My primary concern is not his comedy itself, but when sacred matters of the Christian faith become the object of ridicule. In one sketch, Druski jokingly speaks about Christ and salvation while making suggestive gestures and saying he will "impregnate you with the Word of God." As a Christian, I find this troubling because the message of Jesus Christ and the salvation He offers are holy and deserving of reverence.

Another concern is a growing narrative in popular media that portrays all pastors as thieves, manipulators, or wolves in sheep's clothing. While there have certainly been false teachers and scandals within the church, it is unfair and dishonest to paint every pastor or ministry leader with the same brush. Many faithful men and women serve God with integrity, humility, and genuine love for people.

I enjoy comedy of all kinds—lighthearted humor, satire, observational comedy, and even darker forms of humor. Laughter is a gift. However, I believe there is a difference between challenging institutions and outright mocking what is sacred. Criticizing hypocrisy is one thing; ridiculing sincere believers and faithful servants of God is another.

My intention is not to condemn Druski, but to encourage discernment. Talent should be appreciated, comedy should be enjoyed, and truth should be spoken. At the same time, believers should be willing to defend what is holy while extending grace to those with whom they disagree.
