SINNERS
With so much criticism about demonic and dark occult ritualistic scenes, I went back and forth as to why I should and/or should not watch this movie. I chose to view the film and in my opinion, it truly brought a lot of deeply spiritual points to light. In my absorption of the Ryan Coogler produced film "SINNERS" I first noticed the great acting Michael B. Jordan displayed while playing a double role.
I then noticed the satanic attack on African American art. (Dance, Music, Art & Beauty) Satan knows what music was originally created to do, which is glorify God. Instruments and mighty voices were used to tear down the walls of Jericho in Joshua 6. Those of us with the gifts to perform or play instruments have a deep God given responsibility which we must take account for.
Today we see Hollywood on fire with its complete glorification of evil in movies, art, every music genre, and in some gospel music. Secular rap artists talk the same talk almost in the same flow or cadence. Singers sing the same songs, in the same frequency for the most part, with subliminal and at times right in your face evil lyrics. Even the music videos of today are glorifying demons or the occult.
This movie “SINNERS” spoke volumes just half way through the film! The Devil, played by actor Jack O’Connell needed to be "invited in" to reap havoc on his victims. This ”invite” reminded me of the scripture in
Revelation 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
So in knowing how satan will try and twist scripture his way, he stood in this movie at the door knocking in many scenes, seeking whom he can steal from, kill or destroy.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
This movie also painted how caucasians have been used by satan's false supremacy to control, pillage, and navigate most artist expression when signed to a record label or given investment money. "SINNERS" uses the vampire metaphor of how once artists, label executives are greed "bitten by evil,” they sell out for the money, fame, and worldly status.
Many African Americans became "Sold Out” or blinded by satans use of them once "bitten", and became just like their oppressors toward their very own people. After all blacks help slave owners in the slave trade. The Uncle Ruckus bloodline is real.
Let me be clear! Evil is not bound by race, nation, or people. Evil is a foul spirit! It is a condition of the heart, and all have sinned. There are GoOD people in every race and bad people in every race as well. Heaven and Hell will each be filled with every race of people.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
In one scene Sammie Moore played by anointed actor/singer Miles Caton was being physically attacked by satan and began saying the Lord’s prayer.
"Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, they will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins and trespasses as we forgive those who sin and trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
The demon possessed souls began saying the prayer with “Sammie" in unison. In the film once a person was bitten by a demon, they all began walking as one body, talking and thinking the same. As stated by satan in the film, they knew each other's thoughts as if they shared one mind.
Matthew 12:25 "But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand."
I can personally relate to this scene as there have been times when it takes great focus to pray, as evil tries to interfere or make attempts to thwart effective prayer. I did notice how the demons did not say this last part of the Lord's prayer in the film, "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.”
I’m not going to say this is a must see film, as that decision is up to you, and your level of discernment. However this film set in 1932 Mississippi did make many valid spiritual points that we are fully immersed in today. The pull of evil is becoming greater by the day, through mass media, world government, etc.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
